MOBILITY CAR DRIVER
We are looking for a mobility car driver who will be responsible for the safe transfer of our clients, from their home to the centre and return. You will be tasked with driving and scheduling maintenance for the 2 x charity vehicles, co-ordinate, and plan routes economically with the Operations Manager. Successful candidates must have a clean car driving licence, operate wheelchair folding ramp, enable to secure wheelchair by the fitted restraints, and ensuring that the lap and diagonal seat belts are correctly fitted to ensure maximum security and safety for all wheelchair and non-wheelchair users.
Training can be offered, and appointment will be dependent on demonstrating the required competence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Able to drive to a high standard in line with PCV standards.
- Assist with the loading and unloading of wheel chair users.
- Refuel and clean vehicles when needed.
- Follow procedures when accidents occur.
- Document activities in your personal log and log hours.
- Report any issues to the Operations Manager.
- Plan and follow routes.
- Collect clients in line with the timetable set out.
Personal Specification:
- Category B or C1 licence.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience cat B licence.
- Must have clean driving licence.
- Be over the age of 30 (insurance requirement).
- Willingness to drive locally and on single track lanes.
Interview Format:
- Interview.
- Driver assessment (carried out by former DSA, PCV/LGV Examiner).
Assessment carried out in own vehicle (RHD and road legal) or Age Concern, charity vehicle.
HOME SUPPORT MANAGER
Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Salary: £15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 12 per week
Job Purpose
The overall aim of Age Concern Crediton and District is to improve the lives of older people, help them live well, stay independent and empower them to make choices.
We also work with other organisations to provide information and support services.
The Home Support Service provides a range of services to older people to enable them to live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. It comprises both paid staff and volunteers. Services include shopping, cleaning, befriending and companionship.
The manager will mainly be responsible for the following:
- Managing the service and ensuring it is compliant with relevant legislation.
- Line managing the home support worker team of staff and volunteers.
- Developing the service to be financially stable and effective in line with the charity’s strategy objectives.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Managing the service
- Develop, implement, and review relevant systems and procedures to deliver a safe, effective, and accountable service, in conjunction with the Operations Manager.
- Enable a service culture which is person-centred to the service user, flexible and willing to adapt to changing service user needs.
- Facilitate and receive initial enquiries from the public and professionals about the service and make an initial assessment for suitability of service.
- Identify and allocate staff or volunteer and arrange an initial joint home visit.
- Manage a team rota and service timetable to ensure sufficient cover is provided.
- Manage staff leave requests.
- Ensure the service is compliant with relevant legislation, including but not restricted to Health and Safety, Data Protection and Safeguarding Adults.
- Collate and use monitoring and evaluation information.
- Review service user needs periodically to ensure service is meeting their needs.
Financial Management
- Manage and develop the Home Support budget, including forecasting income/expenditure and development monies.
- Ensure invoices are correct and check against income to ensure good financial management of service.
- Liaise with Payroll services to ensure accuracy.
Line Management
- Assist with recruitment, induction, support, and supervision of staff by use of regular 1:1’s, appraisals, and team meetings.
- Create an employee culture that values and empowers service users but is also a safe and efficient service.
- Identify training needs and organise face to face training for staff and volunteers.
Develop the Business
- Promote the service externally via a range of media.
- Nurture relationships with potential external referrers across different sectors.
- Work within organisational policies and procedures, plus relevant legislation.
General
- Work within the values, beliefs of Age Concern Crediton at all times and to promote these to service users, carers and other stakeholders.
- Take part in line management, supervision and appraisal as required.
- Access training and attend seminars/conferences as necessary.
- Carry out other duties as required which are commensurate with the post.
Age Concern Crediton does not intend for or regard this job description to be contractually binding on the charity and reserves the right to review, amend and update to meet the demands of the organisation.
The Home Support service includes activity such as doing activities with older people in their homes, assisting them to complete housework, paperwork, domestic chores, and accompany people out into the community, maybe to attend a group activity, take a walk, walk their own dog. This is not an exhaustive list of activities, and we anticipate that the service will be developed and improved based on the expressed needs and aspirations of service users. It does not include personal care, giving medication, night shifts etc.
The role of the Manager will be to develop the service, and to provide management cover to deputise for the Operations Manager, when necessary, in the Lady Mills Centre.

The Operations Manager and Senior Management Team have overall responsibility for providing and maintaining safe and healthy working conditions, equipment, and systems of work for all employees, tenants, visitors, students and volunteers and to provide such information, training and supervision, as they need for this purpose.
The Operations Manager and Senior Management Team are also responsible the health and safety of other people who may be affected by Age Concern Crediton’s activities.
It is the responsibility of the Operations Manager to act as Health & Safety Officer.
Individual managers will be responsible for health and safety within their area of responsibility in respect of both the workforce and the premises.

COMMUNITY CLUB VOLUNTEER
We are looking for active volunteers to support the smooth running of our Day Centre at The Lady Mill's Centre in Deep Lane.
You will play a key role in reducing loneliness and improving the quality of life of older people living in the Crediton area.
At the Lady Mill's Centre, we support older people who are potentially lonely, vulnerable, and isolated to improve and maintain their well-being, through a day care activities programme – including arts and crafts, Well-being & mindfulness groups, alongside providing a healthy, nutritious fresh cooked meal.
Using your skills and experience in such a way to have a positive benefit on the well-being of the older people you are working with, you will be assisting staff with daily tasks such as serving lunch and making and serving refreshments.
